These routes are practically on our doorstep at Sannan Court holiday apartments:
Brechfa Mountain Bike Trails
We’re just a mile and a half from Brechfa Forest, and five miles from the start of the forest’s exhilarating mountain bike trails.
Please note - Brechfa trails may be closed for tree work by Natural Resources Wales. Before booking your stay please check at or naturalresourceswales.gov.uk
Brechfa’s black graded Raven Trail has gained a fearsome reputation and is sure to please the most extreme rider.
The red graded Gorlech Trail is hard, fast, and great in all weathers, the singletrack, berms, switchbacks and tabletops will test your full arsenal of skills.
Road Cycling ‘Common to Common’ Route
Sannan Court is right on Route 2 of this challenging route. Narrow, twisting lanes, steep climbs and descents will take you past some of the county’s amazing bogs which formed after the last ice age. Link routes 1 and 2 together for a really tough ride. Your reward will be some of the biggest views in Carmarthenshire, from the Brecon Beacons to Pembrokeshire and beyond.
All the bogs have open access - use the QR codes on the signs at each site to find out more about the bogs and the secrets they have revealed about the history of our landscape. Good tyres and brakes are recommended for these rural lanes where you are likely to encounter large vehicles and animals so please ride carefully and follow the highway code.
Great as an introduction to the challenges of mountain biking, the Derwen trails are graded green (easy) with an optional section of blue graded (moderate) route.
